Winter White Staple Food...

Postby Hemel » 7th Apr, '09, 21:26

Hi all,

Just on the back of justines previous thread about WW toilet habbits, it was pleasing to hear that we all had similar issues!

I was just wondering if I had a problem with Diwali or if it was a common thing... When I got Diwali in Oct 08, she was never keen on the black bits in Harry's Hamster food... so she avoids these and leaves this behind...

Question: does you WW do the same and avoid the black bits, but love the pumkin seeds?

Would be good to hear what everyone elses' experience is?

:gfish:

I think ALL hamsters avoid the black bits! I have heard a lot of complaints about this :p I get Hazel Hamster here in the states, but I'm pretty sure it's near identical to Harry. :)

every hamster leaves the black bits, not just WW! Guinea pigs don't eat them out of their food, either. Total waste of money having so many in there cos you only have to chuck em out.

Mine left the black bits too (I think they're alfafa??) when I used to feed them Harry Hamster but they've all been on Bunny-Nature since last summer and they eat every drop of it! In fact you wouldn't believe the amount they eat, they love it so much!!

Mine leave the sticks in bunny too, they did eat them at first (think the herby smell confused them), then they realised it was something like the harry sticks, and the rest of the food was tastier.

they can be sneaky with the black things. Some hide them under the bedding so you think they've eaten them. I also had a pair of robos who would push them out of the bars of their cage and drop them into the roofless bin cage below :p

My three wont eat them either.

Mandy would pouch all the other food out of the dish & she would then wee on the black bits so it made them go all mushy in a silent protest!.

Joe would pouch them & then sit in his bed & mush them up in his mouth then spit them out!

And Jan would just leave them in the dish!

So now every morning I pour food into there cleaned out dishes & I stand & pick all the black bits out. I must be mad :D
